TV Directing Practice Exercises

As part of the Television Directing Curricular Unit, the students of the 1st Year Master’s Degree in Film and Television Directing had the opportunity to experience practical multi-camera work and reel operation, simulating a live event. The exercise, which took place on May 29, consisted of capturing with 3 cameras the rehearsals for the public presentation of a play by the 2nd year Drama class, working under the guidance of Professor Filipa Guedes. The students operated the cameras, installed ambient microphones, intercom systems between the studio and the auditorium, and the other equipment in Esap’s new Television Studio. The duties performed varied throughout the exercises so that the students could experience the tasks of director, camera operator, image control and sound technician. Learning by doing and learning by watching others do was the motto of these exercises.
