SERIATION CRITERIA (APPLICATION’S GRADE)
Applicants meeting the academic and curricular requirements assumed in the ‘Required Qualification’ will be selected and ranked according to the following criteria:
The curricular assessment (CA) will be made taking into account the following parameters:
1. Motivation Letter (ML) – considering, on a scale of 0-20 points, the coherence of the application, the inherent motivation of the applicant and fit to the programme, as follow:
– No relevant motivation: 10 to 11 points.
– Not very relevant motivation: 12 to 13 points.
– Relevant motivation: 14 to 15 points.
– Highly relevant motivation: 16 to 17 points.
– Very highly relevant motivation: 18 to 20 points.
2. Academic Curriculum (AC) – weighting the required academic qualifications in the following terms:
– final undergraduate grade or equivalent: 10-13 points ….. 12 points.
– final undergraduate grade or equivalent: 14-16 points ….. 15 points.
– final undergraduate grade or equivalent: 17-20 points ….. 18 points.
3. Scientific Curriculum (SC) – considering, on a scale of 0-20 points, the participation of candidates in congresses, seminars, research projects, number of papers published, awards and similar proofs provided, that there are activities in the scientific area of the cycle of studies in question, as follows:
– No relevant curriculum: 10 points.
– Not very relevant curriculum: 12 points.
– Relevant curriculum: 14 points.
– Highly relevant curriculum : 16 points.
– Very highly relevant Curriculum: 18 points.
4. Professional Curriculum (CP) – evaluating, on a scale of 0-20 points, the duration and nature of the professional duties, provided that they are titled by employment contract or independent work, in the scientific area of the cycle of studies in question, as follows:
– No relevant curriculum: 10 points.
– Not very relevant curriculum: 12 points.
– Relevant curriculum: 14 points.
– Highly relevant curriculum : 16 points.
– Very highly relevant Curriculum: 18 points.
5. In addition to the curricular assessment, a possible individual interview (II) may be necessary, when the assessment of the academic, scientific and professional curricula is not sufficiently distinguishable from other applicants, related to the applicants ranking. The individual interview is taking into account the following skills and abilities:
– Ability to express oneself and to reflect critically.
– Motivation to be part of the Post-Graduation.
6. The rating of each member will result from the arithmetic average of the scores given on the scale of 0 to 20 points for each of the assessments.
The final rating will be scored by applying the following formula on a scale of 0 to 20 points:
CA = (ML+AC*X+SC+PC)/4.CA = (ML+AC*X+SC+PC)/4.
Where:ML = Motivation Letter
AC = Academic Curriculum
SC = Scientific Curriculum
PC = Professional Curriculum
The weighting factor X assumes one of the following values:
X = 1.3 for graduate candidates in the areas of Architecture, Urbanism and Civil Engineering.
X = 1.0 for applicants licensed in other areas considered suitable (Arts, Social Sciences and other Engineering course).
If an individual interview (II) is necessary, the final classification formula is adapted as follows:
FC = (CA+II)/2
Where:
FC = Final Classification
CA = Curriculum assessment (motivation + academic + scientific + professional)
II = Individual interview
The scores resulting from the calculation of averages shall be expressed up to one hundredths, by rounding, in each selection method and also in the final classification, by default or by excess, depending on whether the value of the thousandths is less than or equal to five.
