ESAP’s Postgraduate Course in Contemporary Photography aims to prepare students for the current and future challenges of photographic creation, equipping them to develop artistic and professional projects that integrate photography, new media and digital technologies. The course prioritises an educational approach that combines practice with critical reflection, encouraging artistic experimentation, visual research and innovation in image production processes.
Throughout the programme, students will develop skills in contemporary photography, digital post-production, project development, printing, digital and analogue processes, and portfolio building, whilst also exploring the potential of artificial intelligence, digital imagery and interactive platforms as tools for creation and visual communication. The programme combines a solid technical foundation with the study of the history and theory of photography, fostering a critical understanding of the transformations in contemporary visual culture.
Aimed at recent graduates, photographers, visual artists, designers, communications professionals and anyone interested in deepening their understanding of photographic practice, this postgraduate programme fosters the development of a solid creative path through project work and participation in seminars with photographers, curators, artists and other guest experts. At the same time, it encourages reflection on the role of photography in contemporary society, preparing professionals capable of responding to the challenges of an ever-changing artistic, cultural and technological context.
In addition to ESAP’s teaching staff, the postgraduate programme will feature contributions from guest photographers, curators, researchers and professionals, providing students with direct exposure to different practices and perspectives within contemporary photography and visual culture.
