Licenciada e Mestre em História da Arte pela FLUP. Doutorada em Arquitectura (programa Problemas de la Arquitectura y ciudad moderna: teoría, historia, proyectos) pela ETSA da Universidade de Valladolid. É docente na ESAP desde 1986.É Coordenadora da secção Autónoma de Teoria e História e Presidente do Conselho Cientifico da ESAP. Tem vindo a desenvolver investigação no campo da Teoria e História da Arquitectura e da História da Fotografia, sendo de destacar a participação em dois projectos FCT: Fotografia, Arquitectura Moderna e a “Escola do Porto”: Interpretações em torno do Arquivo Teófilo Rego (2013-2015) como investigadora responsável, e Modernismos do Sul (2014-2015), como membro da equipa de investigação. Participou ainda, como membro da equipa, no projeto MODSCAPES – Modernist Reinvention of Rural Landscape (HERA.15.097) e Co orientou o projeto Da reflexão teórica à prática fotográfica processual (Ref. ESAP/2016/P30/SATH). Foi ainda IR do Projecto ESAP Povoados do Douro: experiências de colonização interna nos dois lados do rio (ESAP/2021) e IR do Projecto O Douro dos Fotógrafos, financiado pelo o Apoio aos Agentes Culturais 2022 da DRCN e pelo CEAA.

Degree in Philosophy and PhD in Aesthetics. Independent curator. She has presented exhibition projects in national and international institutions and spaces. Her research and curatorship articulate the domains of art, philosophy and politics. She was part of the Contemporary Art Acquisition Committees for the Portuguese State Collection (2019-20), for the Porto Municipal Collection (2021) and (2023) the Appreciation Committee that selected the Official Portuguese Representation at the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia 2024. Member of the Advisory Board of The New Centre for Research & Practice. Among the works she published, the following stand out: O Auto-retrato. Fotografia e Subjectivação [Self-Portrait. Photography and Subjectivation] (Lisbon: Palimpsesto | CEAA, 2016) [shortlisted for the Pen Club award in the Essay category, 2017]; Nem-Isto-Nem-Aquilo [Neither-This-Nor-That] (2020); 35 graus Celsius. Ensaios sobre arte contemporânea [35 degrees Celsius. Essays on contemporary art] (2021), by the same editor [shortlisted for the Pen Club award in the Essay category, 2022]; and BESTIÁRIO MENOR. Tempo e Labirinto na arte contemporânea [MINOR BESTIARY. Time and Labyrinth in contemporary art] (Lisbon: Barco Bêbado, 2022), which was published (2024) in English version by &&& Books (The New Centre, Berlin). Maria Helena Maia. Degree in History – Art and Archeology (University of Porto, 1982) and PhD in Architecture, Modern Architecture and Restoration (University of Valladolid, 2002). She has been a teacher at ESAP since 1984. She was the coordinator and vice-director of the Architecture course and president of ESAP’s Scientific Council. It has been developing research in the field of Theory and History of Architecture, with the participation in three FCT projects already completed: “Popular Architecture in Portugal. A Critical Reading (2010-2013), as responsible researcher; Photography, Modern Architecture and the “Porto School”. Pedro Crispim initiated his studies on theatre (2010) at Academia Contemporânea do Espetáculo, and graduated in Cinema and Audiovisual (2013) from Escola Superior Artística do Porto. He completed his master’s degree in Audiovisual Communication (2016) from Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo. Later, he obtained a postgraduate diploma in Screenwriting (2019) from Escola Superior de Media, Artes e Design, and his PhD in Communication Sciences: Cinema and Television (2022) from Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of NOVA University of Lisbon, with the thesis “Resgates da câmara: Intimidade e unidade de espaço no cinema de ficção narrativo” on the relation between intimacy and unity of place on fiction film. He was also involved on short-film projects, mainly his short-film “Clowns” (2015), winner of the Sophia Student Award, and as Manuel Mozos’ assistente director in “The Glory of Filmmaking in Portugal” (2015). He is an Invited Assistant Professor of Film Aesthetics at ESAP, researcher at CEAA, and assistant film programmer at Casa do Cinema Manoel de Oliveira from the Serralves Foundation.

Tiago Vieira da Silva has a PhD in Communication Sciences and a master’s degree in Communication, Art and Culture from the University of Minho. He has a degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Escola Superior Artística do Porto. He is currently a teacher at the Escola Superior Artística do Porto, in the Cinema and Audiovisual bachelor degree and in the Directing – Cinema and Television Master’s Course. His research interests are focused on the relationship between cinema, identities and memory, a work that has resulted in the participation in national and international scientific events and in the publication of scientific articles, such as: “The Shape of History in Portuguese Contemporary Cinema : War, Mythology, and the Memory of Struggles” (2023), published in the Quarterly Review of Film and Video. He is also interested in blurring the boundaries between academia and civil society in the promotion of film literacy, participating in training actions and discussion groups in elementary and secondary schools. He is a researcher on the project “MigraMediaActs: Migrations, media and activisms in Portuguese language: decolonising mediascapes and imagining alternative futures” (PTDC/COM-CSS/3121/2021) and in the Virtual Museum of Lusophony, currently a Cultural Unit of the University of Minho. He is also a researcher at the Arnaldo Araújo Studies Center (CEAA/ESAP) and at the Communication and Society Studies Center (CECS/UMINHO).
