“Rogéria,” by Salvador Gil, has been nominated for the Sophia Estudante Award. The film tells the story of Rogéria Maia, a Romani woman who, after a life marked by hardship and discrimination, becomes a symbol of resistance and love, dedicating herself to her family and the legacy of previous generations. The film was awarded at the Sophia Estudante 2025, winning first place in the “Best Documentary” category. Under the theme “Cinema is Passion,” the 14th edition of the Sophia Awards will take place on April 27, at the Black and Silver Room of the Estoril Casino, with a live broadcast on RTP2.
