ESAP’s Alumni awarded theatre creation funding

Theater

The former student of the Theater course, Ana Baptista, was awarded the Antecipar o Futuro creation scholarship.

The Búzio project, by ESAP alumni, Ana Baptista, was one of the two projects selected from the 2nd edition of the program Antecipar o Futuro, an initiative of Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, NTT DATA and d’O Espaço do Tempo which, in this second edition, takes place under the theme “critical tourism” and also has the support of BÓIA – Cultural Association and the Municipality of Lagoa.

Búzio is a theatrical research project for the collection and dissemination of the tangible and intangible heritage of Portuguese coastal and bathing areas, places that, for the most part, survive at the expense of seasonal and mass tourism. But who are we when foreign eyes don’t see us? Is that where our authenticity lies or are we a creation for export? Based on these questions, Ana Baptista intends to reflect on the duality “realism” vs. “utopia” in beach tourism from north to south of Portugal.

Ana Baptista graduated in Theater at ESAP, between 2009 and 2012, and has worked as an actress with John Frey, Teresa Coutinho, Claudio Tolcachir, Eduardo Molina, Luís Moreira, Catarina Rôlo Salgueiro and Leonor Buescu, among others.
