Open Class by Cristèle Alves Meira

Last Thursday, May 18th, Cristèle Alves Meira visited ESAP as part of an open class moderated by Alexandra Guimarães. The director reflected on her most recent film, Alma Viva (2022), listing her various influences, as well as the challenges of the artistic creation process, from the writing phase to post-production. At the end, we also had the opportunity to listen to Júlio Alves, who was part of the characterization and special effects team awarded yesterday at the Sophia Awards.

“Alma Viva” was distinguished yesterday, at the 12th edition of the Sophia Awards, with the awards for best film, best lead actress, best supporting actress, best original screenplay, best cinematography and, as already mentioned, best characterization and special effects . At the ceremony, Cristèle Alves Meira, on the various occasions she went to the stage, insisted on the importance of teamwork being guided by commitment and trust (as dictated by her own experience), defending Portuguese cinema and its recognition.
