ESAP’s Artistic Residency is taking place from May 11 to 17 in Chaves, bringing together students from the BA in Cinema and Audiovisual and the Master’s in Filmmaking: Cinema and Television for six days of cinematic research, experimentation, and creation.
Developed in partnership with TEF – Teatro Experimental Flaviense, the residency proposes a collective and immersive experience focused on listening practices and sound work in cinema, exploring the creative potential of soundscapes and the relationship between image, territory, and memory.
Students are being accompanied by tutors Amarante Abramovici, ESAP lecturer and filmmaker, and Lucas Tavares, filmmaker, while developing film exercises and projects inspired by the landscapes, encounters, and local experiences of the city of Chaves. The programme also includes opportunities to enjoy the town, socialise, and attend activities from the Entre Curtas festival.
The Artistic Residency is part of ESAP’s practice-based cinema training, fostering intensive contexts of creation, collaboration, and direct engagement with different territories and communities.
