COLLOQUIUM
COSTUME AS A DRIVING FORCE FOR CREATION
26th March 2026 | 2:00 PM | Casa São Roque – Centro de Arte
Historically, costumes have been overlooked in theatre and cinema, seen merely as a visual component of the show. However, costumes have an often-overlooked potential to serve as a basis and starting point for creation itself, whether in their symbolisation of the body and human intentions or as the centre of physical action — in an inevitable dialogue with the cultural and artistic paradigms of their time. This colloquium, held alongside the Arraial de Quimeras exhibition and performance by set and costume designer Inês de Carvalho, explores the formal and material possibilities of costume design in staging and audiovisual production.
