The ESAP/CRITICAL CONCRETE Post-Graduation in Sustainable Architecture visited the Former Slaughterhouse in Porto to analyze the building and provide support for the projects in the Laboratory course.
The initiative provided an opportunity to learn about the rehabilitation and transformation project for this important urban and cultural facility, analyze the architectural and structural solutions adopted, and understand the challenges associated with the sustainable conversion of a large and complex building complex.
The session was led by Samuel Carvalho of Mota-Engil, with faculty members Samuel Kalika and Paolo Marcolin in attendance, as well as guest speaker Samuel Rodrigues. The activity provided students with direct exposure to a case study of great relevance for reflecting on sustainability, urban regeneration, and the adaptive reuse of built heritage.
