Ruin and Vegetation: Uneasy Coexistence Between Art and Architecture is a public event that will take place on April 15, 2025 at Casa São Roque in Oporto and will feature artists, architects and researchers such as: Miguel Costa, Joana Rafael, Inês Azevedo, Joana Mateus, Inês Moreira, Dária Salgado, Flora Paim, Beatriz Duarte, Monique Bernardine, among others.
The meeting, which is open to the public, features several bodies of research on the coexistence of ruins and vegetation in concrete places that raise questions such as mining and remediation, the existence of microplastics and changes in planetary materiality, modes of cultural and ecological resistance, urban gardens and ruderal ecosystems.
Situated between the conference, the exhibition and the performance, it is motivated by the research of artists and researchers recently published in the book “Vegetação Inquieta: registos improváveis entre paisagem, arte, arquitectura e ruína” by the Arnaldo Araújo Research Center (CEAA-ESAP), is part of the Extreme Sites project.
