Every night, takes as its starting point the archive of Pedro Magalhães. It gathers ritualistic images representing repeating and reuniting situations, since 2008. Starting from a selection of a group of images, this exhibition is conceived as an artwork – similar to the understanding of Chopin, in which music is thought as the child of the night, sometimes hypnotically shy or quickly intense. Every night represents time, and the timbre of the image, similar to the pulsating body that, resisting, feeds on the night and the light.
An archive composed of analogue photographs, taken with a compact camera, reflecting the importance of time, the time gap formed between the instant of the shot and the moment of their development. Sometimes this gap takes several years. The images remain in the films, in the night, in a latent space, yet to be developed and made clear. In them, we have no ambition of creating an archive; we aim to register, like in a pocket diary, situations, circumstances, and moments of life, through the spontaneity and chance of a click – You Press the Button, We Do the Rest (slogan de 1888 da Kodak).
