Open Class | Ángela Cuadra

Ángela Cuadra works with the tensions between the natural and the artificial, the public and the private, the essential and the superfluous. The artist uses material with pre-existing historical and semantic loads to reconvert and reframe it. Based on collage and approached from intuition, her works induce compositions in which only the found material is elaborated, with the protagonism given to the forms themselves through their juxtaposition with other materials.Since 2013 she has been running the project space “Salón” (Madrid) and was co-founder of the “Encuentro Internacional de Espacios Independientes Supersitrica”.
As an artist she has held exhibitions at the Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo, Centro Cultural Conde Duque, Centro Cibeles, Centro del Carmen en Valencia, Sant Andreu Contemporani in Barcelona and at the CAAM in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Most of her activity took place on independent circuits such as OTR or Alimentación 30 in Madrid, Maus Hábitos in Porto or Homesession in Barcelona. She is currently represented by the Nieves Fernández gallery in Madrid.
Teacher since 2003, Ángela Cuadra has taught at several Fine Arts and Design schools such as the Escuela Superior de Diseño de Madrid, Artediez, Escuela Alberto Corazón, Tai Arts or the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where she is a guest professor for the Master of Cultural Management .
