Fernando Moreira directs students of the Theatre course in an adaptation of Decameron, by Boccaccio, at the National Theatre.
The finalist students of the ESAP Theatre course, directed by actor and director Fernando Moreira, present Ten Tales/Dieci Racconti, an adaptation of the Decameron, at Teatro Carlos Alberto, on July 27th, at 7 pm, and July 28th, at 9 pm.
Written between 1348 and 1353, the Decameron is considered the masterpiece of the Italian writer Giovanni Boccaccio. The story begins when a group of people flee the Black Death that is spreading in Florence and take refuge in a house in the countryside, where they tell stories as a strategy to survive illness and death. Ten Tales / Dieci Racconti appropriates the structure of Boccaccio’s work and approaches it from a contemporary perspective. Five girls and two boys take shelter in an isolated house by the sea to protect themselves from the covid-19 pandemic. They tell stories, survive with stories. “What are we doing here? What do we expect? What do we dream?”
The Artistic Schools at TNSJ is the National Theater program that creates bridges between academic training and the projection of a professional future.
