On 19 October 2026, the Porto School of Art (ESAP) will host the colloquium and workshop “Projected Archive: Research, Methodology, Creation”, a joint initiative of the Lugar Comum Research Line and the Architecture Studies Group of the Arnaldo Araújo Research Centre (CEAA), in collaboration with Casa da Imagem – Fundação Manuel Leão.
The event aims to critically reflect on the projects developed over the past 14 years by CEAA and Casa da Imagem, taking the Teófilo Rego Commercial Photography Archive as its starting point. The initiative is particularly relevant to ESAP’s current location, a building that formerly housed a textile spinning factory, revisiting archival photographs of the textile industry, its factories, machinery, workers and production processes.
Throughout the day, different approaches to research, artistic creation and public engagement will be explored. The morning colloquium will bring together researchers to discuss case studies and methodologies for working with archives. In the afternoon, the workshop will extend this collaboration by exploring new lines of research and experimenting with the creation and reinterpretation of images, methods and processes.
