ESAP Hosts the Short Course “Introduction to Film History”

ESAP is hosting, between September and October, the short course Introduction to Film History, an in-person programme dedicated to exploring the key moments, movements, and transformations in the history of world cinema.

Over the course of six sessions, participants will be invited to journey through more than a century of cinema, engaging with filmmakers, aesthetic movements, and historical contexts fundamental to understanding the moving image. The course combines historical contextualisation, film clip analysis, and collective discussion, and no previous knowledge is required.

The sessions will take place at ESAP, in a room to be announced, on September 4, 11, 18, and 25, and October 2 and 9, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

Admission requires prior registration, to be completed by email at cursos@esap.pt. Applications should include the following information: full name, date of birth, and a brief statement outlining the applicant’s reasons for wishing to attend the course.
