The programmatic proposal — TheSpaceInYourHead — takes as a reference Harald Szeemann’s exhibition Live in Your Head: When Attitudes Become Form (Works – Concepts – Processes – Situations – Information).
The multiplicity of artists from different territories who are part of this proposal, use in their practices a range of media through which they problematize contemporary times in their hybrid dimensions. Establishing relationships of complementarity and/or divergence among themselves, in this program and in each exhibition, we will seek, first and foremost, subtle exchanges between works, artists and spaces.
TheSpaceInYourHead will explore the physical and spatial characteristics of DÍNAMO which, at this moment, benefits from the circumstance of maintaining an area still in the construction phase and, therefore, open to multiple and untimely possibilities of artistic intervention that will be aimed at in situ practice — fostering the dialogue of the works with a singular space but also with the history of that place, the architecture, the landscape, the people. The fact that DÍNAMO is part of an art school, with its distinct and even unexpected spaces, with a strong scenographic potential, reinforces the dominant premise of this program. Considering the expansion of the projects to the spaces surrounding DÍNAMO (thus extending it), each work is developed departing from the space in which it is located and for which it was designed, giving it not only a transformative character but granting another dimension to the place. Reaction is not intended, but rather disturbance. Refusing a single solution to a problem, there will be as many possibilities stated as there will be divergent practices. A certain instability will be a necessary condition. However, it will be the experience of the process and TheSpaceInYourHead that determines the intention.
The exhibition projects will be linked to a public program that will include guided visits to exhibitions, conferences, talks between artists, curators and theorists from different areas.
This project is supported by the municipal program for Programming Spaces.
