Talk with the artist Armanda Duarte
Armanda Duarte was born in Praia do Ribatejo, Portugal, in 1961. She studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the university of Lisbon, the city where she lives and works. In 1996 and 2006 she was supported by the C.Gulbenkian Foundation and, in 2001 by the Luso-American Foundation for Development. She exhibits regularly, individually and collectively, since the late 1980s. The most recent individual exhibition, Abafador, took place at Sismógrafo, Porto, in 2019. Between 1996 and 2011 she was a professor in the department of Drawing and Painting of Ar.Co. In other institutions, she was responsible and co- responsible for some drawing courses, as well as others related with her practice as an artist. She has participated in several publishing projects. Her work is present in the collections of CGD, Fundação EDP, PLMJ Foundation, Lisbon City Council, Contemporary Art State (CACE), FLAD collection, Ivo Martins collection and other collections private.
