Seminar with Matteo Bonfitto

On the 16th of May, at 11am, on classroom A2, the Escola Superior Artística do Porto will receive actor, director and researcher Matteo Bonfitto, who will lecture a seminar on acting.

Matteo Bonfitto is an actor-performer, director, transdisciplinary researcher and professor at the Department of Performing Arts at Unicamp. He attended the School of Dramatic Art at USP, the Department of Art, Music and Entertainment at the University of Bologna (DAMS) and the Royal Holloway University of London (PhD). He has carried out research as a Visiting Scholar at CUNY in New York; at the Freie Universität in Berlin, at Paris 3 Sorbonne Nouvelle, at the Istituto Nazionale degli Studi sul Rinascimento (INSR) in Florence, and is currently developing the Research “Acting in the World: Experience, Memory, Modes of Existence” at the Center for Theater Studies of the University of Lisbon (CET). He is the author of several articles and books published in different languages about the actor-performer processes and his artistic trajectory includes shows and performances presented, in addition to Brazil, in Chile, France, Italy, Germany, United States, Colombia, Scotland, China and Cuba. He is artistic director at Núcleo Performa (www.performateatro.org). In 2019, he was awarded the Zeferino Vaz Prize for Academic Recognition by UNICAMP. On an artistic level, in addition to winning an award for “Em Lugar Algo”, directed by Beth Lopes, at the British Council’s Physical Theater Festival presented at the Edinburgh Festival, he was nominated for the Shell Award for Best Actor with “Fim de Partida”, by Samuel Beckett, directed by Yoshi Oida and received two nominations and an APCA Award with “SCinestesia”, a show created in partnership with Cia de Danças de Diadema.
