Poesia na Língua Commemorates Freedom

25th March | 7 p.m. | ESAP Studio

Poesia na Língua is a cycle of spoken word poetry sessions that seeks to give one of the oldest and most powerful universal literary forms its oral and performative dimension.

On the last Tuesdays of each month, at 7pm, in the Theater Studio of the Escola Superior Artística do Porto, ESAP students, guided by director Luísa Pinto, present poems by some of the most significant Portuguese and Lusophone poets.

On March 25, 2025, we come across three symbolic dates – the final stretch of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, World Poetry Day, celebrated on March 21 by UNESCO, and World Theater Day, marked on March 27 by the International Theater Institute. Between these special days, which come together to celebrate freedom, language and art as fundamental values of the human being, we have chosen to give a voice to each of the participants in Poesia na Língua, so we invite everyone – students, teachers, visitors, friends – to bring one or more texts of poetry, prose or drama by Lusophone authors, to share, to read, to give to be read, in the precious instant of the word spoken in freedom.
