Old Chap Typo

Typography, an old companion of everyday life and the work of designers, reveals one of its oldest mechanical forms, full of potential for application in new creations.

If we exclude designers and printers, we will find few humans grateful to typography. And yet, it is involved in the intricacies of our daily lives. On the other hand, the possibility of reproducing text, for example in books and newspapers, democratized knowledge and information. One invention was the protagonist of this revolution for centuries: the mechanical type. In this workshop we will get to know it, touch it, and experience its potential when applied to new visual creations. Vítor Teixeira, responsible for the graphic workshops at Escola Artística Soares dos Reis, brings us a part of that school’s typographic collection and guides us on the journey.
