Oedipus 2024

Imagem Édipo
January 31st, 2024 | 5pm | ESAP’s Auditorium

ESAP theater students present an acting exercise based on King Oedipus, a text by Sophocles (translated by Maria do Céu Fialho).

1st year Theater students at ESAP, directed by Nuno Meireles, present Édipo 2024, as the final exercise of the first semester.

Oedipus. The Empty Space

Oedipus is the Greek tragedy that the philosopher Aristotle chooses as exemplary. At ESAP we always

return to Oedipus to start the theater course. In this presentation, we think of Oedipus with the idea of

what is seen. And also the most essential part of the actor, the actress.

The minimum cell of theater is for someone to act while someone watches. This Oedipus 2024 is created in an empty space for us to work on the essentials. And the essential thing is the characters who talk about an enigma and find themselves unhappy.

Interpretation: Amanda Duda, Bruno Sousa, Guilherme Ribeiro, Joana Pereira, José Valente, Lucas Pinho, Mariana Correia.
