BUILD UP Session #01 | from high to low tech

The construction industry accounts for around 39% of global carbon emissions. To respond to this global challenge, major transformations will be required from the design phase to construction. In the months leading up to the 2nd edition of Build: from high to low tech we will organize several satellite events focused on specific themes, such as earth building, wood, natural fibers, off-site construction and prefabrication.

In the first session, we will have the participation of Francisco Fonseca, who will share the innovative work developed at Pedrêz in search of natural-based materials and their application in architecture. In addition, we will have the presence of Martin Rauch, with more than 35 years of experience at Lehm Ton Erde and, more recently, at Erden. Rauch is an unavoidable figure in the contemporary resurgence of compressed earth in architecture, with collaborations with Herzog & de Meuron, Roger Boltshauser, among others.
