Daniel Gamito a Research Fellow in Science and Imperialism at the Interuniversity Center for the History of Science and Technology (CIUHCT). He is interested in analysing how science and diplomacy mutually supported each other for the colonization of Africa by the Portuguese, especially during the Scramble for Africa, and how colonial endeavours were supported by racist ideologies. He is also interested in the power of storytelling to communicate complex historical knowledge in science education and the performing arts. Gamito Marques has developed a trajectory as playwriter where science, history and theatre interweave.
