Open Class with Alessandra Pomarico “After the Performance: Exploring the Theatre Archive of Christine Cibils Through Curatorial Practice”

How can a theatre archive continue to produce knowledge, learning and transformation? The Postgraduate Programme in Curating, Urban Culture and Spatial Practices welcomes Alessandra Pomarico, independent curator, writer, educator and activist, for a reflection on the archive of Christine Cibils, an actress, director, performer, educator, environmental, anti-speciesist and feminist activist.

Working with the archive she inherited, Pomarico explores how an exhibition might be conceived not simply to preserve or disseminate a legacy, but to continue learning through an artistic and political practice. Bringing together archival, historical, theatrical and curatorial perspectives, the session asks what remains of the “here and now” of performance, and how a legacy can remain active as a space for research, care, education and collective transformation.
