21st April 2026 | 7 p.m. | ESAP Auditorium

On Tuesday, April 21, the Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP) will host another session of Leituras no Mosteiro, an initiative by the Teatro Nacional São João dedicated to the sharing and promotion of dramatic literature.

Coordinated by Paula Braga, Leituras no Mosteiro offers a free opportunity to discover great plays through shared reading. Participants gather around a table in the company of a guest specialist who provides insight into the selected playwright or text.

The chosen play is Suddenly Last Summer by Tennessee Williams—the American author’s most controversial and censored drama. Addressing themes of psychology, homosexuality, and cannibalism, the play served as the basis for the famous film by Joseph L. Mankiewicz starring Elizabeth Taylor, Katharine Hepburn, and Montgomery Clift.

To help us better understand the text, our guest will be David Antunes, a researcher and professor at the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema (ESTC).
