“Rogéria,” by Salvador Gil, won the 2025 Sophia Estudante Award

Rogéria, by Salvador Gil, won the Sophia Student Award. The film tells the story of Rogéria Maia, a Romani woman who, after a life marked by hardship and discrimination, becomes a symbol of resilience and love, dedicating herself to her family and the legacy of previous generations. The film was also awarded first place in the ‘Best Documentary’ category at the 2025 Sophia Student Awards. Under the theme ‘Cinema is Passion’, the 14th edition of the Sophia Awards took place on April 27, at the Black and Silver Room of Casino Estoril, and was broadcast live on RTP2.
