After the artistic residency in Castanheira de Pêra ended, students and teachers shared some reflections on the experience.
According to Joana Castro, this is a tradition “that should not be lost in future years as it is an incredible experience (…) and quite enriching in the sense that we get to know new places in Portugal while establishing ties with locals”. Diogo Martins considers that “it is a week that puts our individual creativity to the test” and Íris Silva described her participation as having been guided by “learning, self-knowledge and sharing” and Maria João Couto highlighted the way in which this experience “prepared her for the struggle that is making cinema”. Beatriz Leite considered the experience as a great challenge that began even before production, culminating in the understanding of the “vital importance of teamwork and the management of interpersonal relationships” and Sara Dias highlighted the lessons learned, not only for her professional career, but also moments that will be an excellent contribution to her personal development. Finally, Sara Dias, Theater student, valued the opportunity to work in an environment different from the one she was used to, where she was able to learn new working methods and team dynamics. Ivo Reis, one of the teachers who accompanied the students on this journey, concluded: “It is with great pleasure that I walk with my students in praise of creative craziness. In that place, you will truly understand what perception really means”
