Seminar with Ivo Saraiva e Silva

On April 27th, at 11:00 am, in “Estúdio” classroom, a seminar will be held by Ivo Saraiva e Silva*.

*Ivo Saraiva e Silva is one of the founders of the theater company SillySeason, where he is the artistic director, director, actor, and playwright. He holds a Communication and Arts master’s degree from the Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, a Theater degree, in Dramaturgy, from the Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, and completed the professional acting course at Balleteatro. Of particular note are the works on A Midsummer Night’s Dream (2010, by Teatro Praga), A Flor do Cato (2011, by Filipe La Féria), A Morte de Danton (2012, by Jorge Silva Melo), Kabul (2016, by Rui Horta), in Palhaço Rico fucks Palhaço Pobre (2017, by João Pedro Vale and Nuno Alexandre Ferreira), Cisnógrafo (2017, by Luiz L. Antunes), and in the opera Peter Grimes (2017, by David Allen). As SillySeason, won the award for best Portuguese short film at the Queer Lisboa 18 Festival with the work Frei Luís de Sousa (2014). Recently, he staged the play Dolls (2019) for RTP. His first published text, Castro (2021), is included in Cartography of the New Portuguese Dramaturgy by Teatro Nova Europa, edition of Húmus. He collaborated with Ricardo Cabaça on a project to rewrite Homero’s Odyssey (2020) and was the author and playwright of Sérgio Diogo Matias’ solo Insólido (2019). He participated as a guest playwright in the DraMITurga project at the MIT Ribadavia Festival in Galicia (2021). In 2022, he published the text Pigmalião in the publisher Húmus, being one of the works chosen for Readings in the Monastery of Teatro Nacional de São João (Porto) that year. Soon, he will publish seven short pieces in Edições Positivas in Galicia. He participated in the series Regresso a Ítaca, directed by Ricardo Cabaça for RTP. He was a guest professor staging the final show of the SET Festival 2019. He directed, with Pedro Penim, the last school project at Maria Matos Teatro Municipal, Hoje é o dia (2018), in collaboration with Escola Secundária D. Filipa de Lencastre. He has taught theater in primary and secondary schools and developed community projects with the Senior University of Amarante. He was a critic for FATAL (2012) and, recently, has been writing texts in the Opinion section of the newspaper Notícias do Tâmega de Amarante and on the CoffeePaste.r.
