PEDRO POUSADA (1970), fine artist, has been developing his artistic practice in the field of painting and drawing since 1990, exploring devices that cross these expressive media in the editorial field and in the context of installations. In 2017, Stolen Books published his artist’s book “Why I’m Still a Communist.” Since 1990, he has participated in several group exhibitions curated by artists such as Pedro Portugal (“Jáfetu,” 1994), Pedro Cabral Santo (“Faltam nove para 2000,” 1990; “Jamba,” 1997), Paulo Mendes (“Zapping Ecstasy,” 1996 “Plano XXI-Glasgow,” 2000), Luís Alegre with Nuno Figueiredo and João Sebastião Albuquerque (“Arte de furtar/furto na arte,” 2018; “A Book is a Sequence of Spaces,” 2021), António Olaio with Hugo Barata and Pedro Oliveira (“In the Cohort of Di Chirico,” 2022; “Interior fora de si”, 2021), Susana Chiocca (“O espaço Doméstico em performance”, 2011); also included are curatorships by artist curators such as Ana Rito and Hugo Barata (“Constelações- Uma coreografia de gestos mínimos”, Museu Berardo, 2019), architects Carlos Antunes (“Proxy Wars,” 2015), Jorge Figueira and Bruno Gil (“Coimbrismos,” Bienal anozero 2019). He is represented by Galeria Pedro Oliveira. During his years studying at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts, he founded the magazine Artstrike (1991-1992) with Paulo Mendes and Rui Serra, an art project magazine that brought together contributions from Carlos Vidal, Pedro Portugal, António Cerveira Pinto, Fernando Brito, Alexandre Estrela, Miguel Soares, Pedro Cabral Santo, and Joseph Kosuth. He is also Director of the College of Arts at the University of Coimbra and Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at FCTUC, as well as coordinator and lecturer in the PhD program in Contemporary Art at the College of Arts and researcher at CEIS20. He lives in Lisbon and works in Coimbra.
