2nd edition of the João Álvaro Rocha Municipal Architecture Award

On Friday, 23 January 2026, at 6:30 p.m., the Maia Forum will host the closing session of the 2nd edition of the João Álvaro Rocha Municipal Architecture Award, which includes a conference and the premiere of a film, with free admission.

The programme opens with the conference ‘Building with Memory’ by architects Fátima Fernandes and Michele Cannatà, who explain how they work with the characteristics of existing structures to use them as material for new spaces.

The session closes with the premiere of the film ‘Encontros’ (Encounters) by director Pedro Huet, developed from a challenge launched by APJAR to bring architecture and cinema closer together, taking the award-winning works as a reference.

The initiative also marks the launch of the 3rd edition of the João Álvaro Rocha Municipal Architecture Award.
