Miguel Leal (1967) currently lives and works between Porto, Berlin and Afife. His work oscillates between different formats and media, with a particular focus on its place of appearance and the materiality of the media, as well as the flows of memory, history and politics. He studied Fine Arts, Painting, Art History, Philosophy, and Communication and Language in Porto and Lisbon. He is a professor at FBAUP/i2ADS.
His recent exhibitions include Caminhando sobre vidro (2024), Uma Certa Falta de Coerência, in Porto; Pedras (2022), Mosteiro de Arouca and Museu das Trilobites, in Arouca (with Carla Cruz and Cláudia Lopes); Geometria Sónica (2018), at Arquipélago – Centro de Artes Contemporâneas, Ribeira Grande, S. Miguel, Azores, and Duplo Negativo/Double Negative (2018), at CIAJG – Centro Internacional de Artes José de Guimarães, in Guimarães.
He recently published Pedras Figuras (i2ADS, Porto, 2022) and Uccellacci e Uccellini: A Leste da Cidade (i2ADS, Porto, 2023).
