The Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP) will host on October 16, at 11:30 a.m., a masterclass by filmmaker Margarida Cardoso, integrated into the program of the CLOSE-UP – Observatório de Cinema de Famalicão, taking place from October 11 to 18 across several venues of the Casa das Artes de Famalicão and the Teatro Narciso Ferreira.
The ESAP session will build on the screening of the films A Costa dos Murmúrios (2004) and Banzo (2025), opening a dialogue with students and the academic community around Margarida Cardoso’s body of work, with particular emphasis on colonial legacies and postcolonial memories present in her filmography.
From October 11 to 18, in several spaces of the Casa das Artes and the Teatro Narciso Ferreira, the tenth edition of the CLOSE-UP – Observatório de Cinema de Famalicão will unfold, featuring over 30 screenings of contemporary cinema intertwined with the history of film through the work of David Lynch (in dialogue with the exhibition A Estrada Não Tem Fim), under the theme Domicílio Conjugal. The program includes cine-concerts by Dean Hurley, Bruno Pernadas, and the project 007 License to Sing (with the ARTAVE Symphony Orchestra) for the closing event. There will also be commented screenings (by filmmakers, journalists, academics), a retrospective of filmmaker Margarida Cardoso, masterclasses, special sessions, talks, family sessions, and an extensive program for schools.
