PERFORMATIVE ARCHITECTURE

THE (SUBLIME) OBJECT OF THEATRE – POETIC TRANSFORMATIONS – Master Class
18 de março 2024 | Auditorium ESAP | 6pm

Master Class focused on emerging forms of artistic thought and practice-based research, exploring the scenic design and the creative process developed for the play AN OCTOROON by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins. This play – an adaptation of Dion Boucicault’s The Octoroon, premiered in 1859 in New York City –, was distinguished in 2018 by critics at The New York Times as the second greatest American play of the last 25 years.

EMPTY SPACE(S)
FULL OF MEANING – Workshop
Frederica Nascimento & Luísa Pinto
19th March 2024 | Studio + Classroom B5 | 09 am – 5 pm

Empty Spaces. Full of Meaning is a workshop in which students from both performing arts and architecture will be challenged to dramatize the scenic and theatrical space based on the reading and discussion of the plays Waiting For Godot by Samuel Beckett.

In this laboratorial space, tools, languages and strategies of representation will intersect in the construction of a common ground between the fields of architecture and performing arts. It is, above all, the outcome of the share and exchange of knowledge and practices between the scenographer Frederica Nascimento and the director Luísa Pinto, with the collaboration of the architect Luís Ferreira Rodrigues.
